A limited collection
In the Wild
At Celeste Mendis, everything we create is rooted in Sri Lankan heritage — and to us, that heritage isn’t just our craft, our textiles, our history. It’s also the wildlife that has always been part of this island’s identity.
This collection is inspired by five animals endemic and endangered to Sri Lanka: the Sri Lankan Elephant, the Sri Lankan Sloth Bear, the Red Slender Loris, the Purple-faced Langur, and the Sri Lankan Leopard.
These are the animals that bring colour, character, and life to our nature — and they’re disappearing faster than most people realise.
In the Wild was created as a collection of its own, separate from the rest of our line, to bring awareness to these five species and the fragile place they now hold in our natural heritage.
Notes from Celeste
Five species
Woven into Sri Lankan culture for two thousand years
And vanishing within ours. Swipe through the five animals behind the print.
From the wild to the cloth
We turned what we saw into wearable art
Every animal in the In the Wild print started as a single line, drawn by hand.
